Learn About Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy may be described as a verbal process wherein a trained professional, knowledgeable in the field of treating emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric disorders, forms a contractual therapeutic relationship with either a single individual, couple, or group of individuals for the sole purpose of alleviating or lessening deleterious patterns of behavior, dysfunctional forms of communicating, or emotional distress. Psychotherapists listen carefully to their clients' self-reported concerns, complaints, and goals, ask specific questions in order to fully interpret and evaluate the nature of their clients' emotional condition, and then together with their client, formulate an action plan to address the specific issues at hand.
